Bombers sign former Pittsburgh Steelers draft pick, DB Doran Grant

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed former NFL defensive back Doran Grant.

The five-foot-11, 200-pound Grant most recently spent time with the DC Defenders of the XFL, after playing with Atlanta in the AAF in 2019.

Grant was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round, 121st overall, in the 2015 NFL draft. He played in eight games with the Steelers as a rookie. The Akron, Ohio native had stints with the Buffalo Bills (2016), New York Giants (2016), Jacksonville Jaguars (2017) and Chicago Bears (2018).

During his NCAA career at Ohio State University, Grant played four seasons, starting his final two years. He recorded 140 tackles, nine interceptions, four tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble and scored one defensive touchdown. He was a key part of the Buckeyes 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship winning team.

At the 2015 NFL combine, Grant checked in at five-foot-10, 200 pounds and ran a 4.44 40-yard sprint while lifting 225 pounds on the bench press 21 times. He brings speed and power to the Bombers roster.
