Bombers sign former NFL receiver Montay Crockett who has 4.39 speed

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed former NFL receiver Montay Crockett.

Crockett had stints with the Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Redskins and Oakland Raiders. He played eight games in the Alliance of American Football for the Atlanta Legends, grabbing 10 passes for 130 yards and one touchdown.

The 26-year-old has blazing speed, running a 4.39-second 40-yard sprint at the Georgia Southern University pro day in 2017. The five-foot-11, 190-pound pass catcher also recorded a 38-inch vertical and pumped out 18 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.

Crockett played in 47 games, starting 18, while at Georgia Southern in a run-heavy offensive scheme. He recorded 32 receptions for 535 yards and three touchdowns while rushing 15 times for 144 yards and two more scores. The Rock Hill, South Carolina native averaged 16.7 yards per catch for the Eagles.

Winnipeg adds a player with similar abilities to Lucky Whitehead and Janarion Grant. Crockett has return ability and big play potential with the football is in his hands.
