The 2020 edition of Touchdown Atlantic has been cancelled due to COVID-19.

The Toronto Argonauts were set to play host to the visiting Saskatchewan Roughriders in the east coast contest on July 25 at Huskies Stadium on the grounds of Saint Mary’s University.

In addition to the Touchdown Atlantic matchup, there was going to be a three-day ‘mini Grey Cup festival’ with a series of events and community visits by both teams. But none of it will happen in 2020.

From CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie:

Touchdown Atlantic: not this year, sadly

The pandemic is forcing us to cancel the Touchdown Atlantic game in Halifax, which had been scheduled for July 25.

The only thing deeper than our regret is our resolve to return to Atlantic Canada. It pains us that this pandemic is preventing us from showing our friends in Nova Scotia, in person, just how saddened we are by the senseless tragedy they have been forced to bear, and how much we admire their strength.

We will directly reach out to the fans who have purchased tickets for TDA, which was a sellout.

The 2020 edition of Touchdown Atlantic would have been the first CFL game of any type to be played in Nova Scotia since 2005, when the Argos and Hamilton Tiger-Cats played a pre-season game at Huskies Stadium. Moncton hosted Touchdown Atlantic games in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2019.
