The Calgary Stampeders have released Canadian defensive back Dagogo Maxwell.
Maxwell appeared in six games in 2019, his rookie season, and made six special teams tackles.
The 23-year-old was a fifth round draft pick, 42nd overall of the Stamps in 2018 and attended training camp with the red and white that year and 2019. In 2018, he returned to University of British Columbia after attending training camp with the Stamps and recorded 10.5 tackles in two games.
An alumnus of Calgary’s St. Francis High School, Maxwell originally enrolled at the University of Calgary and spent two seasons at receiver. He then transferred to UBC and made the switch to defensive back. In 2017 for the Thunderbirds, he posted 52 total defensive tackles, one tackle for loss, seven knockdowns and one interception. He also returned a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown and was selected to the U Sports East West Bowl.
