The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive lineman Trenton Thompson.

Thompson signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in the spring of 2018. After his time in Cleveland, Thompson played for the Alliance of American Football’s Arizona Hotshots and most recently was a part of the XFL’s Team 9.

The 23-year-old played three seasons in the NCAA at the University of Georgia. He recorded 127 career tackles, 16 tackles for a loss and six sacks in 37 games and was part of the 2017 Bulldogs team that won the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championship.

Prior to committing to UGA, Thompson was a highly sought after high school recruit coming out of Westover Comprehensive in Albany, Georgia. He was named National Defensive Player of the Year by USA Today in 2014.
