It’s been a whirlwind few days for Ottawa Redblacks’ receiver R.J. Harris after U.S. President Donald Trump mistakenly credited him for a quote.

The quote Trump was using was actually said by R.J. Harris, a radio host in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

On Monday, the two met over the phone when Harris (the radio host) had Harris (the football player) on his show on WHP580. Harris even happened to be wearing an old Harris jersey from his days in New Orleans.

“As soon as I got the tweet from the president, my phone went absolutely insane. Over the course of 48 hours I got like forty thousand notifications,” said the Redblacks receiver.

“Every retweet and like intended for you and the President came to me.”

Needless to say, not all of the messages were supportive.

“I was getting all kinds of messages good and bad. I mean, it was all in good fun. I just laughed at it, kept it moving.”

As the old saying goes, there’s no such thing as bad publicity, so Harris used his new found celebrity to promote his upcoming football camp.

“I mean, for sure. Why not? What better promo than have the President of the United States tweet you.”

The two plan on meeting in-person at Harris’ football camp in April in Maryland.
