The Redblacks have parted ways with veteran fullback Jean-Christophe Beaulieu.

The six-year veteran has spent the past two seasons in Ottawa after a four-year stint with Montreal. Beaulieu was originally a sixth-round pick of the Alouettes in 2014.

Beaulieu’s best season came in 2018 when he caught 30 passes for 285 yards and one touchdown in 17 games. The Sherbrooke product is a consistent performer on special teams as well as a solid blocker.

The Redblacks are looking to create space against the salary cap, which is why Beaulieu was released.

The team still has 2017 second-round pick Anthony Gosselin and 2019 third-round pick Gabriel Polan under contract, allowing them to get younger at the fullback position.
