The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed receiver DeVier Posey to a one-year contract for the 2020 season, per sources.

Posey was one of the top receivers available on the open market after the Montreal Alouettes released him prior to his February 1 roster bonus of $30,000. He had been set to make $175,000 in hard money from the Als for the 2020 season.

Originally, Posey signed with Montreal during free agency in February 2019. He played in 12 games making 50 catches for 780 yards and three touchdowns last season. Six games were spent in the injured list with a nagging calf injury. Posey earned over $193,000 while with the Alouettes.

The 2017 Grey Cup MVP had seven catches for 175 yards and one touchdown – including a Grey Cup record 100-yard TD reception – in Toronto’s 2017 CFL title game victory. He recorded 52 catches for 744 yards and seven majors during the regular season that year.

After returning to Canada following Baltimore Ravens training camp in 2018, Posey played eight games with the B.C. Lions recording 29 grabs for 395 yards and three touchdowns.

The 29-year-old was originally drafted by the Texans in the third round, 68th overall in the 2012 NFL draft. The Ohio State product made 22 catches for 272 yards over three seasons in Houston.

Posey brings game-changing ability with 4.37 40-yard speed to Tommy Condell’s offence.
