Courtney Stephen is heading back to where he’s spent the bulk of his CFL career.
The defensive back re-joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on the opening day of CFL Free Agency after spending last season with the Calgary Stampeders.
Stephen played in 17 games in Calgary in 2019 picking up five tackles and 15 special teams tackles. Before he joined the Stamps, the Brampton native played for the Ticats between 2013 and 2018.
During that time, Stephen recorded at least 35 tackles every season, including a career high 47 defensive take downs in 2015. That same season, Stephen picked up a career high four interceptions.
Over the course of his career, Stephen has played in 113 games picking up 219 tackles, 54 special teams tackles, two sacks, 12 interceptions and seven forced fumbles.
Stephen was chosen by the Ticats eighth overall in the first round in 2012 out of Northern Illinois.
