An uncharacteristically busy opening to CFL free agency continues for the Calgary Stampeders.

After re-signing quarterback Montell Cozart, the Stamps have now added former Argos pivot Dakota Prukop.

Calgary is looking for a new backup quarterback this season after trading the rights to free agent to be Nick Arbuckle to the Ottawa Redblacks. Arbuckle would go on to sign in the nation’s capital sending the first overall pick to Calgary.

Prukop spent the last three season with the Toronto Argonauts, dressing in all 18 games for the first time in 2019 where he completed 18 passes on 30 attempts for 284 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. The bulk of those numbers came in the final two games of the 2019 season against Ottawa and Hamilton. Prukop rushed for another 39 yards on 11 carries.

In his previous two seasons with the Argos, Prukop dressed in 23 games with no stats.

Before joining the CFL, Prukop played one season with the Oregon Ducks and three seasons with Montana State.
