The Saskatchewan Roughriders have re-signed Regina native, running back Atlee Simon.
Simon initially signed with the Riders in October and spent the rest of the 2019 season on the practice roster.
He was drafted by the Calgary stampeders in the sixth round, 50th overall during the 2018 CFL draft. Simon had a strong University of Regina career as the star running back for the Rams. During Simon’s five-year university career he became Regina’s all-time leader in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns and touchdowns scored.
Simon accumulated 3,295 rushing yards, 22 rushing touchdowns over his time with the Rams. He caught 64 passes for 727 yards and nine touchdowns. His career total of 4,134 all-purpose yards ranks second to former Riders fullback Neal Hughes in program history.
Simon has intriguing potential because of his versatility. He has a sprinting background, pro frame and played in an offence at Regina with Noah Picton that was CFL style.
