The Saskatchewan Roughriders have re-signed Canadian receiver Mitchell Picton.
Picton comes back to the Riders after making his CFL regular season debut in 2019, playing in two games. He was selected by Saskatchewan in the fifth round, 37th overall during the 2017 CFL draft.
The Regina native suited up in 38 career Canadian university contests over five seasons at the University of Regina from 2013-2017. Picton totalled 170 receptions for 2,447 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Picton recorded 58 catches for 834 yards – both ranking second in Canadian university football – and scored 11 touchdowns, which led all USports players in majors during his final season at the U of R in 2017.
That earned Picton first-team All-Canadian honours and put him part of an exclusive Rams group with Jason Clermont, Chris Bauman, Chris Getzlaf and Addison Richards to earn those accolades.
The six-foot-two, 200-pound Picton has intriguing potential.
