The Saskatchewan Roughriders have re-signed American offensive lineman Cameron Jefferson.
He ended the season on the practice roster after being signed in June.
The 27-year-old started 33 games at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas prior to transferring to the University of Arkansas for his senior season in 2014.
Jefferson went unselected in the 2015 NFL draft, but signed an undrafted free agent contract with Chicago. The Bears released him after training camp and since then he’s had stints with the Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills and Washington Redskins.
The six-foot-five, 317-pound Jefferson could help the Riders at tackle. Takoby Cofield started at left tackle and Thaddeus Coleman right tackle for Saskatchewan most of the season Terran Vaughn mixed in. Cofield and Coleman are pending free agents and Jefferson would be a cheaper fallback plan.
