B.C. Lions director of football operations Neil McEvoy has taken himself out of the running to be the Montreal Alouettes general manager.

McEvoy has spent 24 years with the B.C. Lions, including the last five as the team’s director of football operations. He spent 16 seasons working closely with the legendary Wally Buono and has four Grey Cup rings.

Buono is working for the Alouettes as a consultant to help the club find its next GM. Montreal signed head coach Khari Jones to a three-year contract extension, so the Als’ new GM will not be able to hire his own bench boss.
