The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have a starting quarterback for Week 20 against the Calgary Stampeders: Zach Collaros.
“I was pretty tuned up at practice all week,” Collaros said. “Getting a completion, taking a hit, all those things seem to calm me down.”
Chris Streveler finished Winnipeg’s loss in Week 19 at McMahon Stadium, but hobbled off the field. Zach Collaros, acquired at the trade deadline, stood in uniform and watched from the sidelines.
Winnipeg sent their third round choice in the 2020 CFL draft to the Argos for Collaros and fifth round selection at the CFL trade deadline on October 9. If the Bombers re-sign Collaros, Toronto receives an additional first round pick.
Collaros has a 34-31 win-loss record while completing 65 percent of his passes for 16,758 yards and 92 touchdowns against 51 interceptions in 73 games over nine seasons. He led the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to a Grey Cup appearance in 2014, narrowly losing to the Calgary Stampeders.
The veteran QB has not taken a live snap since Week 1 when he suffered a concussion after Hamilton Ticats linebacker Simoni Lawrence delivered a blow to his head.
