Luke Tasker hasn’t suited up for the Ticats since Week 10 against the Ottawa Redblacks, but his hamstring has healed and he’s ready for action.
“It looks like Luke will be a go for us. He’s looking good, he’s feeling good mentally and physically,” head coach Orlondo Steinauer said.
“[Marcus] Tucker will sit down this week. It just fit for us right now for Luke’s timing of being healthy.”
Tasker has 26 receptions for 292 yards in seven starts this season. He has reached 1,000 yards in three previous seasons, including 2018 when he caught a career-high 11 touchdown passes.
“Luke is one of a kind. He’s one of the best receivers in the league for a reason. I know he’s been itching to get out there and he brings the physical aspects to the game but he’s also like having another quarterback in the huddle,” quarterback Dane Evans said.
“He sees things that some receivers don’t see. He’s very talkative out there in a good way trying to help us.”
Hamilton (13-3) has two games remaining to improve on its franchise record for regular season victories. The Ticats visit Montreal this week — where they lost 36-29 in Week 4 — before hosting the lowly Toronto Argonauts (3-13) to finish the regular season.
“I just want to be a part, I feel like I’m riding on the tailcoats of such a great team,” Tasker said. “I want to be a contributor.”
