Former Redblacks’ star Diontae Spencer makes long return for Broncos

A former CFL player is making big plays in the NFL.

Diontae Spencer recorded a 60-yard kickoff return early in Sunday’s game between the Denver Broncos and Green Bay Packers.

Spencer was with the Pittsburgh Steelers in training camp this year after signing with the team in January. Waived on August 31st, he was scooped up by the Broncos to serve as a depth receiver and return specialist.

The 27-year-old played four seasons in the CFL with the Toronto Argonauts (2015-2016) and Ottawa Redblacks (2017-2018). He recorded 259 receptions for 3,137 yards and 19 touchdowns along with one punt return touchdown.
