Monday’s Labour Day clash between the Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats got heated — quickly.

Hamilton defensive backs Tunde Adeleke and Frankie Williams were ejected less than ten minutes into the contest. Adeleke was thrown out after making contact with an official, while Williams was ejected for rough play.

The skirmish started when Toronto running back James Wilder Jr. and Hamilton linebacker Simoni Lawrence got tied up after the whistle. Neither player was penalized on the play.

The ejections will make it tough for the Ticats to get out of this game. Due to limited roster sizes in the CFL, Hamilton had just two reserve defensive backs dressed for today’s game. Mike Daly will take over at safety, while Jay Langa will take over at cornerback.

Toronto receiver S.J. Green was also charged with unnecessary roughness on the play, though he was permitted to continue playing.

At the time the score was 11-8 in favour of Toronto with four minutes remaining in the first quarter at Tim Hortons Field.
