The Calgary Stampeders signed former NFL defensive lineman Anthony Johnson.

Johnson had stints with the Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins, New England Patriots, New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts. After going unselected in the 2014 NFL draft, Johnson played in 22 games making 16 tackles and one fumble recovery.

Prior to turning pro, Johnson played 40 games – including 16 starts – over three seasons at Louisiana State University. Johnson finished his career with the Tigers with 77 tackles including 22 for loss and seven sacks. He earned second-team all-Southeastern Conference honours in 2013 after recording 35 tackles including nine tackles for loss and three sacks in 13 games.

The six-foot-three, 275-pounder was named Louisiana’s high school player of the year in 2010 and set a state record with 67.5 career sacks.

Johnson could be a disruptive player for the Stampeders.
