The Calgary Stampeders have elected to leave quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell off the roster for their Week 9 game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Mitchell went through his first full practice Tuesday since suffering a pectoral muscle injury versus the B.C. Lions in Week 3, but the Stamps are leaving him on the six-game injured list for the full duration. Even thought Mitchell said he was ready to let it rip.
“I’m being a little cautious. It’s just too short a week, too. I needed about two more practices and then I think I would have had a much tougher decision. But just one practice, I just didn’t think it was enough,” Dickenson said.
“I think physically he could do it, I just don’t think he’s ready. His feet, his eyes just need more time. And so if we’re not going to play him, then there’s no reason to just dress him as the third string and not get the salary-cap relief on the six game.”
While watching Nick Arbuckle guide the Stampeders to a 4-1 record, Mitchell has had a vibe going on the sidelines. Calgary plays the Bombers on Thursday for top spot in the West Division.
