The Toronto Argonauts have trimmed their roster ahead of the regular season.

Offensive lineman Josiah St. John was among the group of nine players cut.

St. John was selected No. 1 overall in the 2016 CFL draft and spent three seasons in Regina playing in 22 games. The Riders elected not to re-sign the 27-year-old prior or during free agency in 2019.

The others: receiver Austin Duke, receiver Kamathi Holsey, defensive lineman Evan Foster, defensive lineman, Trevaughan James, defensive lineman Cardell Rawlings, defensive lineman Alexandre Gagnon, defensive back Malik Davis and defensive back Jamie Harry.

Harry was a fifth round, 39th overall selection by the Argos in the 2019 CFL draft. One more notable Canadian let go was Foster, the third round, 19th overall choice in the 2017 pick-fest. He played nine games for Toronto making one special teams tackle.

By Saturday, June 8 at 10 p.m. eastern time team must cut down from their training camp roster.
