The Toronto Argonauts have released veteran linebacker Bear Woods.

Woods signed a one-year contract extension through the 2019 season in January, but didn’t make it to training camp with the Argos.

The 32-year-old played just four games due to injury in 2018 making 29 tackles.

Woods started 17 games for the Argos and led the team with 91 tackles in 2017, adding four tackles for a loss, two sacks, and five quarterback pressures while helping Toronto win the Grey Cup.

Woods was signed as a free agent by the Argos on May 31, 2017, after being released by the Montreal Alouettes. In six seasons with the Als, Woods was twice selected as a CFL All-Star and was named the East Division’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2014 and 2016.
