Quarterback Brandon Silvers impressed NFL teams to earn multiple workouts and eventually sign a contract with the New York Jets.

The Calgary Stampeders own Silvers’ neg list rights in the CFL.

Silvers threw for 799 yards, completing 64 per cent of his passes for four touchdowns and two interceptions while starting three games for the Memphis Express, the last two as a teammate of Johnny Manziel.

The 24-year-old went unselected in the 2018 NFL draft. New Orleans invited Silvers to the Saints’ rookie mini-camp, but Silvers did not receive a contract after it was over.

During four seasons at Troy University, Silvers produced 10,677 yards, 71 touchdowns against 29 interceptions with a 64.4 completion rate. He added 237 carries for 457 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground.

Silvers joins a Jets quarterback group that includes Sam Darnold, chosen third overall in last year’s NFL draft, veteran Trevor Siemian and 2017 third round pick, 87th overall, Davis Webb.
