Canadian DB Neil King sends heartfelt message after Eskimos release

The Edmonton Eskimos released Canadian defensive back Neil King who sent out a message about the various sides of being a pro football player.

King signed a two-year contract extension last off-season through 2019, but in pro football pacts are not worth the paper they’re written on. King played three seasons in his hometown of Edmonton for the team he grew up watching as a kid making 106 tackles, 13 more on special teams, five interceptions and one forced fumble while wearing green and gold.

The 30-year-old was originally selected by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the fifth round, 43rd overall during the 2013 CFL draft.

King is a veteran free agent who can start and help on special teams.
