Former Ticats OL Ryker Matthews to sign with New England Patriots

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have released offensive lineman Ryker Matthews to be able to sign with the New England Patriots.

Matthews worked out for the Patriots, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers since the CFL season ended.

The 26-year-old played 17 regular season games and two more in the playoffs for the Ticats at right tackle in 2018. The six-foot-six, 320-pound Matthews spent two seasons in Hamilton suiting up in 26 regular season contests.

Matthews went unselected in the 2016 NFL draft but the New Orleans Saints signed him to an undrafted free agent contract. After he was placed on injured reserve the Saints released Matthews that September.
