Ticats, CFL to make Grey Cup pitch in front of Hamilton city council

The Hamiton Tiger-Cats and Canadian Football League will meet at Hamilton city council to propose their plan for a Grey Cup in the Hammer.

But the discussions will be kept from the general public.

Litigation over Tim Hortons Field has been resolved, which can allow the Ticats and league to potentially host the event in Hamilton where it hasn’t been held since 1996.

In early November, the Ticats made a presentation to the CFL’s Grey Cup subcommittee as part of a multi-step bid process to determine who will host 2020’s prestigious — and lucrative — championship. The Ticats are one of three teams in the running, including the Montreal Alouettes and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie believes Hamilton is ready to host a Grey Cup, let’s see if the city agrees.
