The Montreal Alouettes have signed Canadian quarterback Hugo Richard, per sources.

Richard led Laval University to the 2018 Vanier Cup title, the second USports national championship of his illustrious career. He went a remarkable 46-7 as the starting quarterback for the Rouge et Or while winning the Quebec conference MVP award on three occasions.

Ever since Richard rose to the top player in Quebec’s CEGEP system, he was the most scrutinized player throughout La Belle Province and in all of Canadian university football. That means the pressure of signing with the only CFL franchise in the province won’t bother him at all.

Through his five-year career at Laval, Richard passed for 10,271 yards, 70 touchdowns and rushed for 30 more.
