The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed national kicker and punter Felix Menard-Briere.
Menard-Briere was a fourth-round selection, 34th overall by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 2017 CFL draft. He was an All-Canadian calibre kicker at the Canadian university level. He spent part of the 2017 season on the Bombers practice roster, returning to the University of Montreal for his final year of USports eligibility.
During the 2018 pre-season, Menard-Briere connected on all four of his field goal attempts, including hitting form 43 and 52 yards. He also punted 13 times for a net average of 35.1 yards. But the 25-year-old opted to join the Ottawa Redblacks instead of accepting a practice roster spot in Winnipeg.
After leaving Ottawa, Menard-Briere spent time with the Alouettes and Argos so far in 2018 making Saskatchewan his fifth team. He’s yet to attempt a field goal or punt in a regular-season CFL game.
