Riders sign quarterback Drew Powell

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed quarterback Drew Powell.

Powell attended mini-camp with the Riders in April.

Powell was the 2018 Indoor Football League Most Valuable Player, leading the Iowa Barnstormers to their first United Bowl appearance. He completed 154-of-226 attempts for 1,604 yards, 34 touchdowns against four interceptions while rushing for league-high totals of 945 yards and 23 touchdowns.

The six-foot-three, 225-pound Powell played collegiately for Livingstone College. During his senior season in 2015 completed 184 of 315 passes for 2,166 yards, 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions plus rushing for 614 yards and eight touchdowns.

Powell joins Zach Collaros, Brandon Bridge and David Watford as quarterbacks on the Riders roster.
