The Edmonton Eskimos have signed American linebacker Taylor Reed.
Toronto signed the veteran defender to a one-year contract through the 2018 season in February, but the Argos released Reed in August without ever suiting up in double blue.
Last off-season Ottawa Redblacks general manager Marcel Desjardins made a re-signing offer to Reed that was out there for a while, but Reed felt he could do better.
The 26-year-old has played 69 games in four CFL seasons with the Ticats, Stampeders, and Redblacks. He started all 18 games for the Redblacks in 2017 and led the team with 94 defensive tackles and five tackles for a loss to go along with four sacks, seven quarterback pressures, one forced fumble, one pass knockdown.
Reed has recorded 315 defensive tackles, nine special teams tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, 17 sacks, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two interceptions in his CFL career.
