Chris Jones is quickly becoming known as the man in green instead of black.
Ever since taking over as head coach and general manager in Saskatchewan Jones had worn black on black until theDiversity is Strength t-shirts were worn in Week 10 when the Riders beat Calgary 40-27.
“It is quite different to see him not wearing his all-black outfit but I’m not calling him superstitious, but it might make it seem that way on the outside,” quarterback Zach Collaros said.
Jones said after that Stampeders victory his players told him he had to wear the green shirt every week and for the last three Riders contests – all wins.
“I don’t know how everybody else feels but for me, to actually see Coach Jones in any other colour besides black, is breathtaking. And then for him to wear it three games in a row, that’s the most he’s worn any other colour besides black since he’s been my coach since 2014,” defensive end Willie Jefferson said.
“I think it is, the fans like it, the organization like it, the players like it, just to see him in another colour besides black on game day is big for everybody in the community. When it comes to practice he goes back to his old self always in all black.”
