Receiver Duron Carter won’t play in the Toronto Argonauts next two games.
Toronto signed the free-agent Sunday but head coach Marc Trestman emphatically stated Monday that Carter won’t play in the Argos’ home-and-home Labour Day series with the arch-rival Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
“There’s no chance he’ll play in either game,” Trestman said.
“The first thing he told me coming in is you’re not going to play right away and I’m 100 per cent okay with that,” Carter said.
That’s interesting given the importance of the two games to Toronto’s season.
Hamilton (4-5) leads Toronto (3-6) by two points for second in the East Division standings.
The two teams meet next Monday at Tim Hortons Field before returning to BMO Field on Sept. 8
After the home-and-home set with Hamilton, Toronto has a bye week and then play none other than the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Week 15 at BMO Field.
