Alouettes QB Vernon Adams placed on six-game injured list

Montreal Alouettes quarterback Vernon Adams has been placed on the six-game injured list.

Adams came to practice Tuesday in a walking boot with a foot injury according to Herb Zurkowsky of the Montreal Gazette. He was signed by the Als at the end of June after being released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The 25-year-old started in Week 7 just days after Manziel was acquired in the blockbuster deal with the Ticats. Adams completed 15-of-28 passes for 217 yards and one interception while rushing eight times for 72 yards and one touchdown in a loss to the Edmonton Eskimos. He was hurt after hearing ‘We want Johnny‘ chants in the outing but apologized for his comments about the Alouettes fans.

After Manziel was benched in his CFL debut, Adams came in and completed 1-of-5 pass attempts for three yards and rushed four times for 26 yards and one touchdown. The Alouettes lost 50-11 at home against the Tiger-Cats.

After putting Adams on the injured list, the Als brought back quarterback Antonio Pipkin. He played one game in 2017 completing 2-of-9 passes for 14 yards and rushed twice for five yards in a Week 20 loss to Hamilton. Pipkin was released in June by Montreal.
