Riders bringing in DB Marcell Young

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are bringing defensive back Marcell Young to town.

Young was recently released by the B.C. Lions after playing five games and recording nine tackles. The most infamous moment in B.C. colours came when Young decked a spectator who ran onto the playing field at B.C. Place.

The 30-year-old played five seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos making 199 tackles and three interceptions in 74 games. He was a member of the Esks 2015 Grey Cup championship team.

Young began his CFL career in Hamilton where he played for two seasons recording 63 tackles, three interceptions and one forced fumble in 23 games.

The Utica, Mississippi native played NCAA football at Jackson State University where he registered 48 tackles, five pass knockdowns, two interceptions, one sack and one fumble recovery. He went unselected in the 2010 NFL Draft, but signed an undrafted free agent contract with the New Orleans Saints only to be released before the start of the regular season that year.
