With Nick Marshall out, Riders plan to play Duron Carter in his place

Boundary cornerback Nick Marshall has been placed on the six-game injured list, so Duron Carter was taking reps at defensive back on Tuesday.

And the Riders are going to start Carter in Marshall’s absence.

Marshall was a training camp and Week 1 revelation with a game-sealing interception for a touchdown off Ricky Ray in the Riders 27-19 victory.

Carter spent an entire practice on defence in training camp. Head coach Chris Jones has said in the past Carter can be the best cover man in the league if he played there full-time.

The 27-year-old started one game at defensive back last season versus Calgary and had an interception return for a touchdown after backing up his trash talk with Stamps quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell.
