The Saskatchewan Roughriders will travel to Humboldt on Sunday for a practice and community event in support of those still coping with the devastating bus accident.
Sixteen people – including 10 players – were killed and another 13 players were injured in the tragic accident on April 6.
“That was a real bad tragedy. I try to put myself in those people’s shoes and I can’t even imagine what it would be like to lose a child,” Jones said. “We’re going to take our football team out there, we’re going to pay our respects to a great community. My heart goes out to them.”
The Riders are paying a season-long tribute to the Humboldt Broncos hockey team by wearing the logo on their helmets in 2018.
“Certainly, we want to do the part that we can do as an organization to give them the proper respect,” Jones said.
The Riders will also announce details for the CFL franchise’s ‘Humboldt Strong’ home game slated for June 30 against the Montreal Alouettes in Week 3.
