Alouettes get rights to NFL QB Alex Tanney in No. 1 draft pick deal with Ticats

Montreal sent the No. 1 overall draft pick to Hamilton as part of a large deal on Wednesday.

One component to that deal was a negotiation list player, revealed by Montreal Gazette reporter Herb Zurkowsky.

Tanney went unselected in the 2012 NFL draft and he’s been in the NFL since spending time with the Chiefs, Cowboys, Browns, Bucs, Titans, Bills, Colts and Giants. The Monmouth College product has played in one game completing 10 of 14 passes for 99 yards one touchdown and a 114.9 rating.

The 30-year-old is currently on the New York Giants roster.
