Bombers sign former Lions QB Alex Ross and one other pivot

Winnipeg has inked two quarterbacks, former B.C. Lions signal caller Alex Ross and Tyler Stewart.

Ross was a CFL rookie in 2017 and played in four games completing 5-of-12 passes for 82 yards and two interceptions. The Lions released him on April 12.

He signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Atlanta Falcons in 2016 and attended training camp with the team. Collegiately he played for Coastal Carolina University where he left the school as the all-time leader in passing yards (9,918 yards) and touchdown passes (72) while rushing for 1,564 yards 19 rushing touchdowns.

Stewart threw for 3,550 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while completing 59 per cent of his passes and rushing for 438 yards and six touchdowns in starting 22 games at the University of Nevada. He attended NFL rookie mini-camps in 2017 with the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions after tearing his labrum during his senior season.
