Diontae Spencer wanted to see Erik Karlsson stay in Ottawa just like he did by re-signing with the Redblacks before CFL free agency.
The difference for the Senators captain: the fate was out of his own hands. The NHL trade deadline was Monday at 3 p.m. EST and Sens general manager Pierre Dorion was evaluating deals for the all-star defenceman.
Tell Dorion we need to talk. I was looking forward to seeing @ErikKarlsson65 in a Sens jersey this year.

Spencer used some sort of power to keep Karlsson, under contract with the Senators through the 2018-2019 season, from being dealt and remained in the nation’s capital. That made one fan ask if Spencer could bring Henry Burris – 2016 Grey Cup MVP – out of retirement.
Idk if that’s possible. @HenryBurris will have to answer that.

And in the process, Spencer gained a new supporter.
