Derek Taylor provided a Twitter edition of the Details on James Wilder Jr. after the star running back announced he would sit out the 2018 CFL season.
Let's talk about the season @IAm_Wilder32 had. Sure it was 9 starts, but:
#3 in the CFL in Yards from Scrimmage despite being #7 in touches. Yds per touch winner by a mile!#Details #Argos #CFL pic.twitter.com/JZkDXEmiE1— Derek Taylor ???????????? (@DTonSC) January 25, 2018
Wilder Jr. led the league in yards per touch by a full yard over Lions running back Jeremiah Johnson.
Then Taylor astutely points out Wilder Jr. produced an elite year.
Then consider that @IAm_Wilder32 had a Jon Cornish-like season running the ball. Remember how amazing Cornish's Yards per Rush numbers were?#Details pic.twitter.com/XgfV4NYgIj

Toronto became more balanced with Wilder Jr. in the backfield. Breakaway runs were a large factor too.
And since 2004 there have been 7 rushes longer than 75 yards. @IAm_Wilder32 had 2 of them last season (76, 85).#Details #Argos

Those numbers are why NFL teams want to bring the six-foot-two, 232-pound runner back south of the border.
