Montreal defensive back Jonathon Mincy has inked a reserve/future deal with the NFL’s Chicago Bears.
Mincy played boundary corner for Montreal in 2017 where many of the best wide outs in the CFL line up each week. He was targeted 6.2 times per game in 2017 and he allowed a 64 per cent completion rate and 42.3 yards per game, leading the league in those categories (statistics via Onside CFL Fantasy host Dave Dawson).
The 25-year-old has played 32 games for the Alouettes in two seasons, making 108 tackles, three interceptions and forcing three fumbles. After the 2016 campaign, Mincy was named Montreal’s Most Outstanding Rookie and he was named an East Division all-star in 2017.
When Mincy came out of Auburn University he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Atlanta Falcons in 2015, but got released among final training camp cuts. He signed with Montreal in May 2016.
