Riders extend GM and head coach Chris Jones

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have extended general manager and head coach through the 2019 season.

The deal will keep Jones, whose three-year deal was set to expire at the end of next season, with the club through the 2019 season. Jones also has the title of vice-president of football operations.

Hired by the Riders three years ago, Jones brought the team from last place in the West in 2016 to a division final appearance last month. He led the Riders to a 10-8 record this past season and the team’s first playoff appearance since 2014. That came after a 5-13 season in Jones’ first year in Saskatchewan.
