The meaningless contest between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Montreal Alouettes last Sunday was the second-lowest rated game of the CFL season with just 226,000 viewers on TSN.
Both clubs have been eliminated from playoff contention and the broadcast competed directly with the NFL on CTV. The game was the seventh most-watched sports program on the day.
The lowest-rated game of the season was a Week 13 match up between Montreal and Ottawa with just 190,000. These numbers, it should be said, don’t include data from French-language RDS.
At the other end of the spectrum, three of the five most-watched games this season include the Saskatchewan Roughriders, who also had the most popular game of Week 18. Here’s the list of the most-watched games so far this season:
1. Winnipeg at Saskatchewan, Sept. 3: 818,000
2. Calgary at Edmonton, Sept. 9: 751,000
3. B.C. at Saskatchewan, Aug. 13: 750,000
4. Winnipeg at Saskatchewan, July 1: 726,000
5. Toronto at Hamilton, Sept. 4:682,000
Two of the top-five were played on the Labour Day weekend and Ticats-Argos game is the only East Division on the list.
Here is the list of the TSN ratings for Week 18 in the CFL:
Saskatchewan at Calgary: 635,000
Winnipeg at Toronto: 534,000
Edmonton at B.C.: 386,000
Hamilton at Montreal: 226,000
