Durant given standing ovation at New Mosaic

Darian Durant was greeted to a warm round of applause at New Mosaic Stadium on Friday night, his first game in Regina since he was traded to Montreal back in January.

Durant, one of just four quarterbacks to win a Grey Cup for the green and white, said he deserved a “warm ovation” from Rider Nation earlier this week. This comment drew the ire of Rider diehards who seemed to believe Durant was somehow being overly presumptuous.

The future Roughrider hall of famer was fully deserving of the ovation — Durant was the face of the franchise for almost a decade — but Rider Nation has been known to hold grudges against former pivots.
