Ticats kicker Sergio Castillo has suffered a suspected torn ACL in his right knee, sources say.
The injury will need to be confirmed by an MRI next week but it’s expected that the 26-year-old will miss the remainder of the season.
Head coach June Jones said as much in his comments after Friday’s 30-13 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
“It didn’t look good,” Jones said. “We’re anticipating he won’t be back.”
The Ticats are reportedly looking at possible replacements and expect to have someone in place by Monday when the team returns to practice.
Castillo was injured after missing a 38-yard field goal late in the second quarter, his leg crumpling beneath him. He stayed down on the turf for several minutes before being carried from the field.
Castillo has been one of the few bright spots for the Ticats this season and was 29 for 34 on field goals with 45.1 punting average coming into the game.
