Ticats trade RB C.J. Gable to Eskimos

Edmonton has acquired running back C.J. Gable from Hamilton for the rights to two players from the negotiation list.

Gable has 74 carries for 466 yards and five touchdowns in nine games this season. He’s in the final year of a contract that pays him in the $90,000 range.

Alex Green ran for 140 yards on 13 carries in Hamilton’s Week 14 win in B.C. The 29-year-old shares a University of Hawaii connection with current Tiger-Cats head coach June Jones.

Hamilton brought in competition to challenge Gable in training camp. He was benched earlier this season for Ross Scheuerman.

Gable appeared in 51 regular season games over five seasons with Hamilton, running for 2,372 yards and 17 TDs while adding 147 catches for 1,497 yards and eight touchdowns.

Gable was a two-time East Division all-star and a finalist for the CFL’s top rookie award in 2013.
