Riders practice on Parliament Hill for second straight year

Some feel the Riders are “Canada’s team” and the team is living that slogan once again.

Chris Jones and company practised at Parliament Hill on Sunday.

The Roughriders did it last year after a 32-30 overtime win in Ottawa and the green and white are doing it for the second straight year after an 18-17 comeback victory on Friday night at TD Place.

General manager and head coach Chris Jones wanted his team to take advantage of the opportunity.

“It’s a big honour to be able to come here and practice and do our walk through here. It’s not very often that you get to do this type of thing. It’s Canada’s version of the White House and for us to be able to come out and practice here it’s a big honour.”

National receiver Rob Bagg felt a lot of pride while practising on Canada’s lawn.

“This is the capital of Canada and as a Canadian, I’m very proud of that. The more times you come back here the more you are just appreciative of being a Canadian citizen.”
