Running back Trent Richardson is on Saskatchewan’s trip east.
The Riders play in Ottawa on Friday night, stay in the nation’s capital for the preparation then travel to Toronto and meet the Argos on Saturday in Week 16. General manager and head coach Chris Jones ruled Richardson out for Week 14, but the fact the Alabama product travelled with the team indicates the possibility that his debut could be made against the Argonauts.
Richardson came to Regina in excellent physical shape. Chris Jones said the Riders are “going to condition him every day to see exactly what type of CFL conditioning he’s in and then we’ll go from there.”
The 27-year-old wants to play “as soon as possible” and added, “hopefully, I’ll be on the field by next week.”
The high-profile back could potentially make his CFL debut in the country’s biggest market.
