Alouettes DB Dondre Wright levels Redblacks QB Drew Tate

Ottawa quarterback Drew Tate was crunched late in the second quarter against Montreal.

Alouettes rookie defensive back Dondre Wright came free on the blitz and crushed the 32-year-old. Tate, starting in place of Trevor Harris who suffered a shoulder injury last week, left the game after completing 21-of-29 passes for 185 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He was wearing a sling on his right arm on the sidelines in the second half.

Third-string pivot Ryan Lindley entered and threw an interception on his first pass.

Redblacks head coach Rick Campbell addressed Tate’s injury after his team’s 29-11 win.

“Initially we thought he had the wind knocked out of him,” said Campbell. “But we really don’t know the extent. He doesn’t feel right. We’re going to get a further evaluation.”
