For the second straight week there was a Canadian quarterback that went perfect when they took the field. Plus a number of defensive performances were put forth from nationals.
1. Michael Kashak, DL, Calgary Stampeders
The McMaster product delivered the hit heard around the CFL when he crunched Ricky Ray and sent him out of the game with a shoulder injury. Kashak added a fumble recovery by alertly batting the ball out of bounds.
2. Taylor Loffler, DB, Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Ask Brad Sinopoli what it was like going across the middle with Loffler bearing down on him. The physical safety was flying around hitting and making plays, three tackles and one forced fumble that led to a defensive scoop-and-score by Chris Randle, for the Bombers in Ottawa.
3. Brandon Bridge, QB, Saskatchewan Roughriders
Yes, it might have been “garbage time” as some call it, but Air Canada came in and led two touchdown drives while going 6-of-6 for 114 yards and two passing majors. Kevin Glenn joked about a “QB controversy” on the sideline during the broadcast. Bridge has consistently produced each time he’s been given an opportunity to play. Just sayin’.
